Shaheed Bhai Sukhpal Singh was a true soldier of the Sikh
Struggle, who
devoted his entire life to the Nation and became part of the thousands
of
Martyrs who fought for the freedom of his Nation. Bhai Sukhpal Singh's
village was Handiaya but he, with his family, had begun to live in the
City Barnaalle.
Once, he took his family to Harmindir Sahib, where he was
inspired by Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale's speeches. As a result, he
took Amrit and started to live life as a Gursikh. On 13 April 1978, the
Narakdharis had caused the martyrdom of 13 Singh's, after which Bhai
Sukhpal Singh became agitated to fight the enemies. June 1984 saw
the Indian Army's attack, whose bullets that hit Akal Takhat Sahib and
Sri Darbar Sahib had hurt his soul. Consequently, he became part of a
wave
of Warfare with weapons and secretly began to perform his service.
On 10 May 1991, at Jaimal Singh's home, he and his friends were
surrounded by the police. Although a bullet hit his thigh, he accepted
God's Will and encouraged his companions to escape while he himself
fought the enemies for 2 hours. At the end, while he was trying to cross
the border of Village Rayeeha Tehseel Fool, County: Batinda, he was
martyred. Every year on 10th May, his sacrifice is commemorated with
great respect. |
