Shaheed Bhai Surinder Singh Sodhi

Bhai Surinder Singh Sodhi was a great warrior and saint. From a young age he hated injustice caused to the masses by the Nazi government of India.

When he met Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhinderawale, he became his right hand man, in the fight for justice.

Bhai Surinder Singh Sodhi was a very talented Gursikh. Sant Jarnail Singh sent him to infiltrate the Haryana Chief Minister after he shaved the beards of Sikhs on one side of their faces to humiliate them.

Bhai Surinder Singh infiltrated the inner circle of the Haryana Chief Minister. He later phoned Sant ji and said, I can do his seva, but I will not escape alive. So Sant ji said come back.

He was known for his daring and bravery. In one pind he single handily took on the armed forces, inflicted many casualties and escaped. Sant Jarnail Singh, acknowledged his daring and bravery, and sent him on missions to punish the aggressors many times. He was a great warrior and always won the fight with the enemy. His fame was such that the government of India sent hired assassins after him.

Taken from "The Gallant Defender" by A.R Darshi: "employed one Surinder Singh Chhinda and an immoral young women Baljit Kaur and assigned them to exterminate the Sant. Some how or the other they could not succeed in harming the Sant. However both these hired assassins treacherously killed on 14th April,1984 Surinder Singh Sodhi the trusted right hand man of Sant Bhinderawale. This outrageous crime was committed in the Sindhi Hotel situated just outside the Golden Temple Complex. " When Sant came to learn of Bhai Surinder Singh's death, he posted up a sign in the Darbar Sahib of the complex, saying that those who had committed this crime would be dead in 24 hours. Within 24 hours all people responsible including Baljit Kaur were dead.

"I declare this today - and I have done this earlier to when they issued a contradiction - that the secretary, Gurcharan Singh of the Longowal group Shiromani Akali Dal, is our murderer. Yes, he is our murderer. Malak Singh Bhatia's name got mentioned and he confessed."
